The Emmy Awards acknowledges excellence in television and works out to be the equivalent of the Academy Award for film, the Tony Award for theatre and the Grammy Awards for music.

There are 3 organizations that present the Emmy Awards due to the fact that it is given in innumerable sectors of the American Television Industry. These organizations are are: the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The ceremony, which was first held in 1949, was presented to honor shows produced and aired locally in the Los Angeles area. However, over time, it has been expanded into a national event

This year, the 66^th primetime Emmys took place on the 25 August 2014 and below are my favourite red carpet looks from the event. I believe it is pretty safe to say the GIRLS took this one home.

The MTV Video music Awards, commonly abbreviated as the VMAs, is an annual award presented by MTV to honor the best in the music video medium. Over the years, it has become one of the most coveted awards in the industry. The ceremony, which started in 1984, is usually held in New York or Los Angeles and this year, The VMAs took place on the 24 August 2014 at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
